Dear Hotel Association of New York City,
According to a recent report from the American Lung Association, the New York metropolitan area is one of the most polluted in the nation. The Allergy and Asthma Foundation also considers the city an “asthma capital.” https://aafa.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/aafa-2025-asthma-capitals-report.pdf
Past studies have found a connection between increased air pollution and decreased tourism—but New York City has so much to offer as a vacation destination. That’s why we’d like to share a helpful resource you can use to help address the city’s air pollution problem.
Climate Trace is a free website that not only identifies specific emissions sources, like the Joseph J Seymour Power Project, but visualizes their pollution as plumes. Here is a map of the plumes in the New York metropolitan area: https://climatetrace.org/air-pollution/ghs-fua_7244
