THE ANSWER, MY FRIEND, IS BLOWING IN THE WIND

The winds of change are blowing strong–and they’re carrying the promise of a cleaner, greener future.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, the U.S. is making waves in offshore wind energy like never before. When they took office, there wasn’t a single commercial-scale offshore wind project approved in federal waters. Fast forward to now, and they’ve just greenlit the 10th project, unlocking over 15 gigawatts of clean energy–enough to power 5.25 million homes.

And the best is yet to come. With more projects on the horizon, the Biden-Harris administration’s ambitious goal of deploying 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030 could power 10 million homes with clean energy, avoid 78 million metric tons of CO2 emissions, spur $12 billion per year in private investment in offshore wind projects, create 77,000 well-paying jobs and support thousands of small businesses across the country. That’s real money flowing into local communities, boosting economies, and securing a reliable energy source that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels.

With Vice President Kamala Harris ready to carry this momentum forward, the future looks brighter than ever—if we can keep the wind in our sails.

As with any great journey, there are challenges ahead. A storm is brewing on the horizon, and its name is Donald Trump.

Trump has made his disdain for offshore wind crystal clear, vowing to scrap offshore wind projects “on Day One” if re-elected. His wild claims—like turbines being lethal to whales or their noise causing cancer—are nothing more than gifts to the fossil fuel industry, which is busy funding his re-election campaign.

The truth is far more promising. Offshore wind farms are not only generating clean energy; they’re driving economic growth and creating sanctuaries for marine life. Critics once feared these towering turbines would wreak havoc on birds, dolphins, and seafloor ecosystems, but research tells a different story. Wind parks are actually attracting and protecting marine species. For example, two pilot turbines in Virginia waters have become thriving habitats for fish, algae, sea turtles, and mussels.

Offshore wind is proving to be a win-win for our planet and economy. By countering disinformation and supporting candidates who are committed to clean energy, we can protect the future of offshore wind and secure a sustainable, prosperous future for future generations.

The wind is at our backs—the time to act is now.
