Meet EarthLungs Reforestation Foundation
EarthLungs is Kenya's largest tree-growing organization, operating under contract with the Kenya Forest Service to help restore 5.1 million hectares of degraded land — part of Kenya's Nationally Determined Commitment (PDF) under the Paris Agreement. Their model employs the communities living adjacent to degraded land to restore it, giving them long-term livelihoods and ownership over the forests they build.
Every tree is tracked with Veritree: geolocated by drone, photographed regularly, and monitored with AI and bioacoustic sensors that record returning wildlife as the forest recovers. EarthLungs stays on site for a minimum of five years per location — this is not a plant-and-forget program. Learn more about our program.
