Save the Amazon!

The loss of natural habitat is the leading cause of global declines in biodiversity and animal populations.  The loss of the Amazon rainforest, in particular, poses a threat to the entire global climate system (Nature).

That’s why we created this opportunity for those of us who love the natural world to contribute to the preservation of this vital ecosystem.

How is it possible that you can help preserve an acre of Amazon rainforest for as little as $2.00?

Your dollars support the titling and permanent protection of old-growth Amazon rainforest. The land is donated by the Brazilian government, and your support pays the legal, demarcation, mapping, and administrative costs associated with the land titling! This gift comes with 160% matching funds, in partnership with Conserve.org,  Re:wild, the Brazilian Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, and the indigenous peoples who inhabit the Brazilian rainforest.

Optionally, you can surprise and delight a friend, family member, colleague, or employee by funding permanent protection of the Amazon on their behalf. To do that, indicate that this is a gift when you place your order. They’ll receive an email notification of your gift each time your subscription renews.

Trees for Life!

No matter how climate-conscious we are, it’s virtually impossible for most of us to eliminate our emissions through lifestyle changes alone.  We must do more to reverse our excess lifestyle emissions.

That’s where our Trees for Life program comes in.

Choose how many trees you need to plant based on your lifestyle, and you’ll walk a little more lightly on the planet, knowing that the trees you plant are sequestering an ever-increasing amount of carbon while restoring the soil, providing habitat for other creatures, and providing a livelihood for people less fortunate than us.

Your trees are never harvested or traded. They’re planted and protected by local farmers and live out their natural lives — a vibrant, living forest to replace one that was destroyed by previous generations.

Subscription Options:

  • 10 Trees / 2.5 MT: Congrats! You live a deliberately low-impact, transit-light, plant-forward, low-consumption lifestyle — far below the U.S. norm, but close to what a sustainable future would require.  You only need to plant 10 trees a month to reverse your excess emissions of approximimately 2.5 Metric Tons (MT) a year.

  • 20 Tress / ~5 MT: Well done! You live a consciously lower-carbon lifestyle — an efficient home, reduced driving, modest consumption, and a plant-forward diet — without fully opting out of mainstream conveniences. You only need to plant 20 trees a month to reverse your excess emissions of approximately 5 MT CO2(e) a year.

  • 40 Trees / ~10 MT: You live a lower-than-average carbon lifestyle, perhaps because you live in an apartment or fly infrequently, but can’t afford an EV and haven’t been willing to give up those burgers! You need to plant 40 trees a month to reverse your excess emissions of approximately 10 MT a year.

  • 70 Trees / ~16 MT: You have the roughly the average American lifestyle: you live in a comfortable, gas car-dependent, meat-inclusive, consumption-oriented lifestyle that reflects the default U.S. system — not extreme locally, but very carbon-intensive globally. You need to plant 70 trees a month to reverse your emissions of ~16 MT a year. (SOURCE):~16 metric tons of carbon pollution (CO2(e)) over 20 years).
